Our Community 

——— 雙語二年級探究單元學習活動(1)

 

最近,雙語部二年級的小朋友們結束了探究課第一單元“我們的社區”的學習。在學習過程中,小朋友們圍繞著“一個能滿足人們需求的社區的功能和變化”展開研究和學習。

We're excited to share the highlights of what our Grade 2 students have been up to during their first unit, "Our Community." The central idea of this unit was, "A community functions and changes to meet the needs of its members." Let's take a closer look at the engaging activities and lessons that our students experienced.

發現社區功能:

小朋友們在外教老師的帶領下認識社區里的人、地點和交通工具。通過討論和頭腦風暴,他們掌握了構成我們日常生活基礎的錯綜復雜的關系網。

Discovering Our Community:

Our journey started by exploring the concept of "community" itself. We asked our young learners to think about the people, places, and vehicles that make our community thrive. Through discussions and brainstorming sessions, they began to grasp the intricate web of relationships that form the foundation of our daily lives.

燈光、相機、行動-創建社區視頻:

最令人興奮的活動之一是“成為視頻創作者”! 他們通過制作視頻展示社區的各個方面。帶著智能手機和熱情,他們捕捉到了周圍環境的美麗。通過這個項目,小朋友們由衷地欣賞對他們生活的社區。

Lights, Camera, Action - Creating Community Videos:

One of the most exciting activities was when our students became filmmakers for a day! They embarked on a mission to create videos showcasing various aspects of their community. Armed with smartphones and enthusiasm, they captured the beauty and functionality of their surroundings. Through this project, students not only honed their technical skills but also developed a profound appreciation for their community.

 

 

社區工作者:

小朋友們還認識了社區工作者的不同角色和承擔的責任。社區工作者們承擔了保護社區安全、保障人們健康等等重要的任務,小朋友們還為不同的職業建立了職業小檔案。小朋友們通過這個活動表達了對那些不知疲倦地工作以滿足我們社區需求的人的感激和尊重。

Community Helpers Profiles:

Our Grade 2 students explored the different roles and responsibilities that community helpers undertake. They took on the task of creating profiles for these essential individuals who keep our community safe, healthy, and vibrant. This activity allowed them to express gratitude and respect for the people who work tirelessly to meet the needs of our community.

社區地圖:

地圖以一種獨特的方式將我們與周圍環境聯系起來。小小制圖師有機會為他們的社區繪制地圖。這個練習不僅具有教育意義,而且還鼓勵他們從新的角度看待他們的社區,確定關鍵的地標,并學習如何將人物、場所、功能組合在一起。

Community Mapping:

Maps have a unique way of connecting us with our surroundings. Our young cartographers had the opportunity to create maps of their community. This exercise was not only educational but also encouraged them to see their neighborhood from a new perspective, identifying key landmarks and learning how everything fits together.

 

創造自己的社區:

本單元最有創意的一個地方是讓學生設計他們自己的社區。小朋友們化身為城市規劃者和夢想家,決定他們的社區如何運作和發展。每個學生都說能出他們所在社區的名字,甚至扮演了其中的一個社區工作者,展示了他們對真實社區運作方式的深刻理解。

Inventing Their Own Communities:

One of the most creative aspects of this unit was when students designed their very own community. They became urban planners and visionaries, deciding how their communities would function and evolve. Each student named their community and even acted as a person within it, demonstrating a deep understanding of the way our real communities function.
