Each year in the spring, the science teachers plan some extra-learning, hands-on activities for students to dig deeper into science. This year, Mr. Jano, Miss Ashley, and Mr. Curry created a variety of experiments, activities and projects for students partake in. Let’s take a look at what those were!
每年春天,上海市世外小學雙語部都會迎來一年一度的科技節活動。今年也不例外,三位中外科學老師為五個年級的同學們設計了豐富多彩的科學活動。
一年級:
During the festivities our grade 1’s explored Seasons and the weather, letting their imagination lead the way they created some amazing posters showing different kinds of weather and our 4 seasons. As part of the science festival, we put on a show for the grade 1’s with 3 main experiments, showcasing scientific principles while educating and entertaining our students!
一年級小朋友根據科學課上學習的內容,在活動的第一周設計了非常精美的有關四季的海報。




第二周,科學金老師為小朋友們帶來了一場精彩的科學秀演出,小朋友們也積極的參與其中。小朋友們在整個活動中驚喜不斷,并從表演中了解了更多的科學知識。


二年級:
Grade 2 has been learning about “Force and Motion” in unit 5. In the first part of the science festival they worked in their science groups to create a simple machine out of the materials provided. The teams showed great creativity! The second science festival activity was the “Exploration Stations” students worked in their science teams to complete various activities related to force in motion. After completing each activity students would discuss how it related to what they learned in class.
二年級小朋友結合正在學習的“力和運動”單元。以小組為單位設計了簡單機械來解決生活中遇到的問題。




此外,小朋友們還進行了和力學相關的闖關游戲,在游戲中小朋友們結合學習過的知識,不斷優化方案,盡可能的取得更好的挑戰成績。



三年級:
Students have been learning about our solar system in unit 4 and were able to put their knowledge and curiosity to great use in this year’s science festival. Each student made and presented a project on the solar system. The various projects included a model of the solar system, planet travel brochures, and researching a question about the solar system. Students were able to use what they learned in science class and dig even deeper into space with their projects. The projects students made this year were out of this world!
三年級的同學已經學習了“太陽系”主題,根據自己的能力和興趣,每位同學都選擇了自己的作品方向。有選擇模型制作的、也有選擇化身外星小導游,來介紹自己星球的、還有小朋友提出了課堂中沒有講到的但卻很感興趣的問題,并自己搜索資料,制作了一份詳盡的海報。我們來看看小朋友們精彩的作品吧!






四年級:
Grade 4’s science festival activities were an introduction to their unit on “Cells”. Using critical thinking skills, they had to deduce the function of the cell organelles based on an analogy within the classroom. This was a great exercise that produced some mental sweat. The following week students planned and created a model of the cell using various kinds of candy. Students had to assign the appropriate candies to the right organelles.
四年級的同學們正在學習“細胞”單元。在科技節中,我們的教室化身為“巨型細胞”,同學們在教室中找到細胞中各種細胞器對應的物品,完成了一本細胞的介紹書籍。在接下來的一周里,同學們用各種不同的糖果制作了細胞模型。




Grade 5:
For this year’s Science festival our grade 5 students worked together in groups they chose themselves. The groups were tasked with choosing a topic to explain and to do an experiment to demonstrate their topic. We were not disappointed! All the groups worked together through planning and cooperation they all produced spectacular projects! From tesla coils, absorbent resin all the way through to Elephant toothpaste they gave a very good account of themselves!
五年級的同學們作為高年級的學長,有著最豐富的科學知識儲備。所以他們的科技節活動,老師們并沒有規定項目。只要能確保人員和環境安全,可以自備材料做任何想要完成的實驗。第一周,各個小組完成的實驗的選擇,并在第二周進行的展示,展示中不乏亮點。





Award Ceremony:
The science festival was concluded with an awards ceremony to acknowledge students efforts both during the science festival and throughout the year, as a whole.
在閉幕式中,根據小朋友們在科學課以及科技節上的表現,頒發了9個不同的獎項。祝賀所有獲獎的同學!
